Photography Insperation

ANNIE LEIBOITZ

I decided to do a bit of research on the American portrait photographer, Annie Leibovitz. I like her style of photgraphy and it fits in well with the style of image that should be used with my magazine cover. Annie Leibovitz was a photograpger for The Rolling Stones magazine for 10 years also so her images are suited to my project. The two magazine covers I have shown on this post I have chosen because they are of huge music stars, which obviously relate to my project but also because they are old images and magazine covers and this relates to the vintage style I want to be used on my magazine.
Also, from the covers I have put on this post, Annie Leibovitz also took photographs with a number of people on the cover and not just one, I like this idea for my own magazine, especially if the two or more people on the cover are both male and female because then I think it will reach towards an audience of both male and female. For example, when I look at the first cover with John Lennon and Yoko Ono I don't think that the actual image of the two people it is aimed particularly at men or particularly at women. Actually, I don't think that the whole magazine cover looks really femine or masculine, but the knowledge that Rolling Stones magazine does have a main target audience of men makes me think that this cover is also.
