What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

Initially, I was going to use IPC as my magazine distribution company, as they are the distributors of NME magazine. However after I thought about this I realised that they would not want to distribute a magazine like STATUS as it is so close in genre to NME that they would run in direct completion with each other and the sales could be affected. When looking further into distribution companies I decided I was Frontline to distribute STATUS. They are a company that distribute 60 of the top 200 UK magazines and are a very successful company bringing in over £2 billion annually. They distribute magazines such as Heat, Radio Times, Auto Car and Take a Break. This shows to me that there is a gap in their business for a music magazine and I think the variety of magazines that they distribute shows that they would be willing to distribute a music magazine. I think that this company would want to distribute my magazine because of the success of other magazines, such as NME, with a similar genre.

I also feel that I would want this company to distribute my magazine as they are already a successful company and therefore it shows that they know the business techniques and have the experience to show that they know what they are doing and how to make a magazine successful through advertising etc.
